Rollin in the Depp at Al Fresco
This year, Admiral helped to sponsor the Al Fresco Film Festival’s “Summer of Johnny”, a Johnny Depp themed festival where some of the favorite films starring the sultry-eyed thespian were shown outside in downtown Halifax. The money raised by the festival is used to support local film makers and youth programs as well as raise awareness of the burgeoning local film market in Nova Scotia. The festival featured such films as “Edward Scissorhands”, “Ed Wood”, “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape”, “Alice in Wonderland” and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”. As a supporter of the local arts, Admiral is proud to be a part of this festival, and of course, staring at Johnny Depp for an hour and a half isn’t so bad either.
Admiral Supports Halifax Pride 2012
On July 28th, Our Admiral crew had a chance to show off their colours and hoist the flag high as we participated in the PRIDE Parade in downtown Halifax. This year was the 25th anniversary of the annual celebration by the LGBTQ community, so it was an extra special honour to be a part of the festivities. At the end of the day, Admiral’s float and won the prize for Best Business Float. The streets were filled with 1,400 parade participants and a crowd of 100,000 strong and we were in the thick of it all with 16 representatives and all the moxie we could muster.
…Five Years and Growing!
In 2007, Admiral Insurance opened its doors in Nova Scotia with a staff of 21 and our sights set on building a successful venture in Halifax. In our first office on Bayers Road it seemed like we had plenty of space to grow as we created more and more opportunities for people to join our Admiral family. Flash forward to 2012, we moved into our new office at the Halifax Shopping Centre Annex with over 75,000 feet of awesome office space and over 450 employees and lots of room to continue to grow our family in the upcoming years. Happy fifth anniversary to everyone at Admiral!
Swinging for Supper
Over the month of July, the staff at Admiral Halifax pitched in together to raise money and food donations for Feed Nova Scotia. The charitable organization collects and distributes food to more than 150 member agency food banks and meal service programs through out the province. To show our support, we held multiple events including BBQ’s, hockey pools and a desk wash fundraiser (check out Admiral Insurance on Facebook for the pics). Also eight lucky staff took the day off to participate in Swinging for their Supper, Feed Nova Scotia’s annual golf tournament at Glen Arbour. Thanks to the generous spirit of our staff, we donated over $2500.00 and 16 boxes of food.

"Congratulations to everyone at Admiral Insurance, the company was recently recognized as a Top Employer in Atlantic Canada for 2012! Since opening for business in Halifax in 2007, Admiral Insurance has grown from an office of twenty-one to over 400 employees.
