How long have you worked at Admiral?

I’ve been with Admiral for 3 years.

Describe what you do.

I manage the Facilities & IT department in Halifax. We handle reception duties, contracts, landlord relationship, procurement, Health & Safety, equipment maintenance, IT upgrades, IT troubleshooting, new equipment rollout and much more. As the manager, I lead our small but incredibly important team to enable all the employees to fulfill their roles efficiently and comfortably.

What attracted you to Admiral?

I was the Facilities Manager at a 3rd party Call Centre that closed and many former employees moved on to Admiral. After hearing so many positives about the company and how it treats its employees, I decided to apply. I started out in the New Business department and after six months, this position became available.

What’s your greatest success to date at Admiral?

I have had so many successes at Admiral, it is difficult to decide which one was the greatest. In terms of the team, the greatest success is the behind the scenes work my department does every day that empowers all our employees to succeed in their roles. My greatest personal success is earning the Facilities Management Professional (FMP) designation through Admiral’s tuition reimbursement program.

What kind of person succeeds in your role?

To succeed in this role you must always want to learn, be able to communicate effectively, have a strong desire to help others and be a self starter.
