Describe what you do.
I have the unique opportunity to play a role that impacts everyone in the office in one of the most impactful ways - their pay. I lead the Payroll and Finance department in Halifax. A few of the responsibilities we handle are: payroll, pension, shares & dividends, financial allocations, accounts payable and receivable. Together we are a small but mighty team ensuring a smooth running department that produces accurate information and processing. It’s a personally rewarding position that allows me through my work to put smiles on everyone’s face including my own.
What attracted you to Admiral?
I was attracted to Admiral because of the fun atmosphere and great incentive program. The location was great and the operational hours helped me maintain that work life balance that is important for me and my family. Admiral has benefits from day one, a casual dress code, free parking, fun staff events, a share program, a pension program and many more perks that appealed to me.
What’s your greatest success to date at Admiral?
When I was successful in obtaining my position on the Support Team working in payroll. My field of studies was geared towards payroll and finance and because Admiral has a culture of promoting from within I was able to obtain my dream position without leaving a company I love working for.
What kind of person succeeds in your role?
To succeed in my role you have to have a strong work ethic, be organized, be approachable and friendly, be able to communicate effectively and have a strong attention to detail. I have a desire to help others and take pride in my work.
