I've been with the company since May, 2007.
Describe what you do.
New Business Department Manager – responsible for overseeing and leading the sales department and its near 200 employees. Primarily make business decision that will benefit our customers, staff and the department but ensuring they are financially responsible, accountable and justifiable. Offer mentorship to all levels of staff to ensure that, as the company grows, we have new leaders on the rise.
What attracted you to Admiral?
Promotion from within. I’ve been a Customer Care Representative, Senior Care Representative, Team Manager, Operations Manager and now a Department Manager. It’s taken me 8 years and a lot of hard work but I have been very successful in my career with Admiral.
What’s your greatest success to date at Admiral?
Seeing the team I support winning the Innovators of the Year Award at Call Centre Nova Scotia Awards this year.
What kind of person succeeds in your role?
You need to love this company. You need to be ok with stress and use it as a tool of creation. You have to be a people person have at least a shred of charisma. You need to understand the numbers, but more importantly, understand the story behind them from before you look to make changes. Lastly, be ok with not doing it all - place trust in the right people and let them get to work.
