About a dozen high-energy employees dedicated a Saturday afternoon by representing Admiral as we sponsored and participated in the 2016 Halifax LGBTQ Pride Parade.
With faces painted, balloon backpacks and plenty of warm smiles, our staff marched along the parade route in downtown Halifax engaging with the public and acting as company ambassadors for the afternoon.
With a theme of “Live Your Life”, our involvement in the event was two-fold: promote diversity and inclusiveness and demonstrate we are an employer of choice in the Halifax area.
"Our culture embodies equality within our employees. I think it's important for us to show our support of the LGBTQ community; to show that together we make a difference," said Admiral employee, Terri Arsenault, who was one of the driving forces behind Admiral's Pride involvement.
With Admiral banners and signage visible at many points along the parade route, Nick Beynon, Admiral HR Manager, says he also hopes word will spread about our fun-loving culture and office.
“It’s also our hope that this will encourage top talent in Halifax to come work with us."
In addition to being a parade participant and sponsor, Admiral doubled-down on their Pride week involvement by committing to being the main sponsor of The Queer Acts Theatre Festival at Halifax's Bus Stop Theatre.
