New Business Operations Manager
Number of years at Admiral?
I’ve worked for the company since June, 2009.
Describe what you do.
I started my career as a sales consultant and have worked in a variety of different roles, most recently supporting the New Business function at the operations level. My daily responsibilities include supporting all levels of staff in achieving success and helping the department move forward, taking on new projects and supporting our team in the UK. I focus on staff morale, development opportunities and hiring new staff to join the Admiral Halifax family.
What attracted you to Admiral?
I had friends that worked for the company and were always telling me how much they enjoyed coming to work each day. I did some research on the company and its values and thought it was a good fit for what I was looking for. I was at a transition point in my life and decided to give Admiral a shot and I am so glad that I did. Admiral truly is an amazing company to work and I’m happy to be a part of the Admiral family!
What’s your greatest success to date at Admiral?
My greatest success would be our staff survey results last year. Every year we participate in the Great Places to Work competition where every member of staff is asked to complete a survey on a wide variety of topics. Each year we review the survey results and look to implement feedback and start new initiatives. On the back of the feedback from the previous year we implemented many things that staff were looking for and I was proud to see our following year results as staff morale was up and we scored quite well in many areas! When the staff I support are happy, I feel the most successful.
What kind of person succeeds in your role?
To be successful in my role you need to be supportive, understanding and fair. You need to be driven, motivated and provide clear expectations and have a good understanding of business needs and how they can impact the staff you support. It’s also important to have a flexible approach to your day as supporting a department of 200 staff can definitely keep you busy!
